Laura Spagnolo receives grant to study DNA replication at high pressure17th September 2009The deep-sea archaeon Pyrococcus abyssi thrives in undersea hot vents where temperatures reach 98oC and the pressure is around 200 atm. Laura Spagnolo has received a grant from the Royal Society to study how this organism replicates DNA under such extreme environmental conditions. The work will be carried on in collaboration with the Centre for Science at Extreme Conditions at Edinburgh University. Back to previous page |
