Project
NEMO
In December 2006 and January 2007, 24 British scientists and students will travel to Oman, linking up with participants from the Sultan Qaboos University in Muscat, for Project NEMO (New Edinburgh Marine Organisation). Project NEMO is an expedition to study the biology of the charismatic Omani clownfish. This work, led by Dr Stephen Simpson from the University of Edinburgh, will focus on the population genetics of this species and will generate vital information to guide future management of reef fisheries around the world. The expedition will provide unrivalled training and learning experiences for the team, and outreach opportunities such as presentations and films on the beach will involve the local communities. This website aims to cover the basic aims, rationale and progress of the expedition. Should you have any comments, queries or suggestion, please email the relevant contact.
