The Institute of Cell Biology (ICB) is a world-leading research centre for cell and molecular biology. Research focuses on the molecular mechanisms that underpin genomic and cellular structure, function, stability, and development. It comprises 22 research groups and includes the Wellcome Centre for Cell Biology. Currently, the Institute has a combined grant income of £27 million including £22 million from the Wellcome Trust. £5 million derives from other sources including BBSRC, CR-UK, EC, HFSP, MRC and the Royal Society. The group leaders include the Buchanan Professor of Genetics, one Royal Society Research Professor, and three Wellcome Trust Principal Research Fellows.
